Can a wastewater or water tank be cleaned while submerged? Do wastewater or water tanks require coatings?
I need to get information or recommendations for tank inspections. We have a Wastewater and water treatment plant and need recommendations for the tanks. Here are a couple of questions we need answered. Can they be cleaned while submerged and do these tanks require coatings? We are in the Middle of Florida in the South West Florida Management District. Thanks for your help.
If you mean by "submerged", that they are filled, they can be cleaned that way, but it is much more expensive. It is not done unless there is no option to empty the tank. As for coatings, they normally are coated to help extend the life, but there is no requirement (unless uncoated causes contamination above permit limits). It is best to call your local Florida EPA and ask their advise. There may be some local requirements.
