Why is water leaking from the catchment and the exhaust pipes of the furnace in my HE?
My high efficiency furnace was installed this summer, so the furnace has been operating only for a month. But recently, I realized at the site of consumption and exhaust pipes connect with the furnace, no water is located on the top of the furnace. And as the water evaporated, there is no white water marks left. Does anyone know what is causing the leaks?
SE ovens make huge amounts of water – a byproduct of combustion. I had one with condensate drain is implementing a 5-gallon bucket and cold days that could fill the bucket in 5 or 6 hours. Most of the condensate is collected in the heat exchanger and these furnaces have pipes and tubes to collect the condensate and take outdoors on the ground. Maybe a bit of sour water in most municipalities is not legal to run in the sewers (which is very clean – the treatment plant would not only must energy waste treatment). Some of condensate condenses on the walls of the exhaust pipe. This is typically 2.5 "pipe PVC. The joints are supposed to be glued and the pipe should be sealed at the top of the oven with a rubber gasket. This water flows back into the oven and in the collection system condensate. It seems that maybe yours is not sealed properly. I'd be more concerned about the danger of carbon monoxide leak condensate ….
