Pasture Management?

Hello, we have 5 acres in No Cal that just bought. The previous owners did not care for the grass. They are a mixture of herbs (no star thistle though), and natural herbs and wildflowers. I would like to keep it as natural as possible, but just better. We purchased a heavy duty tow and I started to drag the pasture. Is cleaning the weeds and breaking up the areas with piles of old crap. We intend to be manure spreader good for us to spread the manure with some grass seed and fertilizer. What else? What is a mixture of mint and where can I buy? THANKS!

If you're going to have horses graze in the pastures, I divide it into 3 parts. One part, the lesser would be your sacrifice area. This would be in the feeding of hay, water and have your barn or shelter. The other 2 areas would be their grazing area. You rotate the horses and forth between the 2 pastures. This prevent their horses from over grazing. If both have been grazed down, you will not have to sacrifice on the grass, hay and feed until pastures recover. It would also be a good idea to cut the grass to a height of about 4 inches once they have moved to the horses. I seed with grass seed bromine, but also is a mixture of grasses to be clover, alfalfa, Timothy, and other herbs in it. You should be able to find these Tractor Supply or any farm store.
